As part of the “Kids’ Comic Con April Madness 2021”, KCC will be hosting a unique and exciting “Mini Afri Con” Zoom  to connect young people in the NYC with those in Senegal and Nigeria West Africa. Friday April 30, 2021 Time: (NYC 12PM, Senegal 4PM, Nigeria 5PM). The goal of “Mini Afri Con” is to focus on the creative talents and stories that are in the African Diaspora. Black and Latino images and stories in the vast comic industry are limited. It took the blockbuster success of The Black Panther motion picture before Black heroes and storylines could get global notice. Though a tremendous film, The Black Panther characters and story were not created by Black artist. There are many exceptionally talented Black and Latino writers, illustrators, and other professionals in the comic book industry. The “Mini Afri Con” hopes to support dialogue, creativity, and partnership within the African Diaspora.

The KCC Mini Afri Con will present artist and writer from the African Diaspora in New York and West Africa. The Kids’ Comic Con is collaborating with the Senegal American Bilingual School of Dakar and the Africa Cartoon Center of Nigeria in presenting this opportunity for young and not so young aspiring artist, writers, animators, digital technicians.

If you are interested in having your students participate, please email EUGENE ADAMS (eugene.adams@bcc.cuny.edu) for more details.
